A BIT ABOUT THE OWNERS
Preston Hoey
I grew up in Oakwood, Ohio and began learning about lawn maintenance the same way many people do, by mowing my grandparents lawn with my Grandfather. I quickly saw that working outside in the landscape of my grandparents 2 acre lot in Washington Twp., ignited a true passion of mine. As I progressed through Junior High I found it was also a good way to earn some spending money as I entered my Sophomore year in High School.
As a sophomore in High School I landed my first job with A3L Landscape and quickly picked up the professional aspect of the industry by being given the responsibility of running my own crew, meeting and listening to both potential and established clients' needs and wants, hauling equipment, equipment handling and maintenance, and learning the business not only as a pastime but as a future primary income. Inspired to continue to learn, I began studying patio and paver design and hardscaping during this same time, inspiring me to embark on a journey into construction and disaster restoration to broaden my scope of skills. Today at only 21 years old and only 6 years later, my skill set has grown from mowing lawns, to now encompassing general carpentry, coordinating projects and material deliveries to large loss job sites, heavy equipment operating, structural repairs, landscaping, lawn maintenance, and hardscaping.
As a result of determination and dedication to the industry, my passion to learn and gain more knowledge about the green industry only deepens with each season here in Ohio and continues to grow to this day. Being dependable, professional, and performing high-quality work remain my top priorities, as does equipping me and my business partner with as much horticulture knowledge as possible as I intend to progress through horticulture school in the near future. The beauty and diversity that I get to enjoy and call home here in Dayton, Ohio is truly a blessing that excites me every morning as I am greeted with new changes from day to day.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Buster, my Grandma, my parents, my two younger siblings and business partner, Mitchell. Boating, snowboarding, horseback riding, fishing, skateboarding, music, motocross, and football are just a few of my favorite pastimes.

Hello, I’m Mitchell Kaplan, co-owner of Hyper Fresh Hardscape & Landscape. I am 21 years-old and have a passion for solving problems in my best effort to make the world a better place.

I am blessed to be the youngest in an amazing family with entrepreneurs all around me. My mother, Jennifer, is a licensed massage therapist and Pietra fitness instructor teaching classes at the YMCA on Marshall Road. My dad, Ron, founded the Surf Ohio t-shirt brand in 1978, and is currently in the process of establishing the Ohio Air & Space Hall of Fame, soon to be located in the original Port Columbus air terminal. My older brother, Max, is an award-winning filmmaker currently attending Ohio University Honors Tutorial Film Program. My oldest brother, Alex, (older than Zach by one minute) is a vocational education teacher and runs Griffen Hollow Studio, a custom woodworking company also located in Columbus. Alex’s twin, Zach, formerly owned a top 30 nationally ranked printing company in Columbus and is now Director of Operations at Leader Promos.

I got my first introduction to the green industry in 2012 in the backyard, with my father showing me the ropes on the family push-mower. Shortly after that, I was doing a neighbor’s yard, and then another neighbor, then a couple more, and pretty soon I had myself four whole weekly mowing clients. I could be seen skateboarding behind my push-mower down the neighborhood streets on the way to and from my lawns. I grew to genuinely enjoy the various tasks of mowing and landscaping - the smell of fresh-cut grass, the feeling of warm, sun-baked mulch, and the satisfaction that came with seeing the completed, transformational work. Most of all, I loved the compounding effect I saw my work have, not only in the increasing visual appeal of each client’s property, but also the increasing visual appeal of my entire neighborhood with each additional client! Passing by one of “my” lawns or gardens always sparks a sense of pride within me.
Today you can find me servicing the same great people in the same lovely neighborhoods – only now with some fancier equipment, a fantastic teacher/partner, and an even greater passion for the green industry!
